You know, a couple of weeks ago I was getting a little frustrated with Heroes and how spread out the story was becoming. With all the characters developing as fast as they are it makes since that we're only getting a couple of characters per episode, but that means that every episode now is always at least one favorite character short. I mean, it's been what, two or three weeks since we've seen DL and Micah? But now I think that if that means we can do episodes like the one last night, I don't mind one bit.
INTERMISSION: The snowplow is finally here. We've been snowed in for four days (we went from no snow at all Friday afternoon to knee-deep on our quarter-mile long driveway on Saturday morning). My dad had to hitchhike to and from work yesterday (his boss to, a coworker from).
OMG the SNOWPLOW is STUCK halfway up the hill! I don't know whether to be amused or alarmed. I have an exam at 9am tomorrow, so I hope we get things cleared off soon.
To make matters worse, we're supposed to get another round of the same starting tomorrow night. I hope it holds off until Thursday - I have rehearsal Wednesday and I already missed the first read-through last night, but I don't want to be out after dark in that crap (the roads are horrible enough as it is).

Creepy Hornrims Guy shall be called such no longer. He is now Mr. Bennet, at least until we either come up with a better nickname or learn his given name. I knew there was a reason he'd become my favorite character (I think I'm the only one on my FList who liked him straight off from the first episode. Now I'm all smug.).
I was totally unsurprised by Christopher Eccleston's character having been Mr. Bennet's partner. The (almost) Assassination of InvisiGuy scene was a little odd, though... Bennet seemed to be trying to find out who Claude was hiding, but then again he also shot quickly enough that maybe he actually wasn't. Was this the point when he realized he couldn't give up Claire? Was he trying to protect whoever-it-was for Claude? Or am I seeing something that's not there? I mean, there's no doubting that the return to that bridge was a full-circle type metaphor, but the real question is whether it was a "this time he makes a different decision" or a "deja vu, only on the other side of the gun."

Where was I... Oh, right. Bennet and Claude. Did anyone else pick up on some serious slash vibes between those two? I did. But I don't think that I'd actually want to read them as a fic pairing because Bennet's loyalty to his family, wife included, is the thing I love most about him. I might go for an angsty futurefic AU where Mrs. Bennet is dead, though...
And on the OMG moments of the episode...
OMG! Mr. Nakamura! Whoa! I really can't wait to see how this one turns out. I mean... Mr. Nakamura? How long has he known Bennet? Probably a while, considering Bennet could think in Japanese (does anyone on my FList happen to know what he was thinking in Japanese?). Does Mr. Nakamura know about Hiro's powers? (How adorable was kid!Hiro?) (Tangent: was I the only one who loved the man-kimono George Takei wore to the Oscars?)
OMG! Necklace! Did you see the necklace teen!Haitian was wearing? It was Jessica's tattoo!
OMG! How many of Bennet's memories did the Haitian take? I MUST KNOW!!! Okay, I don't need spoilers, but I want it to be next week already...

on 2007-02-27 09:51 pm (UTC)I *loved* Mr. Bennet's character from the very beginning, but I didn't know if I liked him as a person. I wasn't sure at all until this ep that he was actually made of good stuff. Now I know he is made of awesome.
I too was unsurprised about Claude. You don't feel all betrayed like he acts unless you were on their side at first.
the real question is whether it was a "this time he makes a different decision" or a "deja vu, only on the other side of the gun."
That's a really interesting point! I don't know. I'm leaning toward the deja vu option, though.
Definitely picked up Claude/Bennet vibes, but I wouldn't want to see fic on it either. Claude needs to have lots and lots of sex, though. Possibly with Peter.
Mr. Nakamura!
Necklace!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I know!

on 2007-02-28 04:22 am (UTC)It seems that for the first several episodes a whole lot of people were convinced that the writers were just handling their villain badly, while I just went "hm, something fishy is afoot. I like it." Then somewhere around the third ep I realized that he was a good man, even if he may never be a do-gooder. I've got this thing for morally ambiguous men who behave as or become heroes for someone they love.

Me too. Although Claude probably still hasn't realized that he was being helped (it was the most bass-ackward help ever). Should make for an interesting encounter when they finally meet up again.

While invisible. Which when you think about it, makes for some interesting quasi-exhibitionist scenarios...

on 2007-02-27 11:18 pm (UTC)And I think you are the first other person I have seen listening to Kate Rusby, who is a perticular favourite of mine!
